2022/04 ― In Kandy, Sri Lanka, I ate candy―with a Java coffee. I also drank a Java coffee when I was in Java, Indonesia. One day, I will go to Ireland and I will drink an Irish coffee, and when I go to Scotland, I plan to have a Scotch. When I went to Singapore, I had a Singapore Sling. When I went to Russia, it never occurred to me to order a Black Russian or a White Russian, and I am not going back just for a drink. That would be immature.
I tried to order Brussel sprouts in Brussels, Belgium, but I did not find them on any menu. I guess they are not even popular there, so I settled for Belgian waffles instead. I did eat a Hamburger in Hamburg, Germany, a Peking duck in Peking, China, and a Danish in Denmark, but I can’t remember if I had French fries in France, or greasy food in Greece, or KFC in Kentucky, or a turkey sandwich in Turkey, and now that the country changed its name to Türkiye, the experience just wouldn’t be the same.
If I visit Bourgogne some day, I will have bœuf bourguignon there, which I may chase down with a champagne from the region of Champagne. I am keen to top off my dishes with chili peppers from Chile and Swiss cheese from Switzerland, and I would like to have a side-order of Neapolitan ice cream for dessert when I go to Naples.
Update 2022/09 ― I went to Bologna, Italy, hoping to eat baloney. I did not find any, but I did get my hands on some prosciutto, some lasagna bolognese and a bit of spaghetti bolognese.
Update 2024/05 ― I went to Pisa, Italy where I ate pizza.
