The Look – 2025 – Acrylic
A soldier, dressed in robes reminiscent of Michelangelo, views a Greek building of Antiquity. He seems to contemplate his future. Man aspires to reach lofty goals, which often include fighting and conquering. His shield depicts a Medusa whose look is said to turn onlookers to stone. Myths are potentially glorified and destructive. Is the dog looking lovingly at its master, or is it looking hostilely at Medusa? The dog is known for its loyalty as well as its bite. This painting was inspired by Jupiter commands Mercury to deliver Io by François Verdier and Medusa by Caravaggio.
