The Look – 2025 – Acrylic
A soldier, dressed in robes reminiscent of Michelangelo, views a Greek building of Antiquity. Man contemplates his future and aspires to reach lofty goals, which often include battles and conquests. The shield depicts a beheaded Medusa, whose look is said to turn onlookers to stone. Myths are potentially glorified and destructive. Is the dog looking lovingly at its master, or is it looking hostilely or curiously at Medusa? The dog is known for its loyalty as well as its bite. This painting was inspired by Jupiter commands Mercury to deliver Io by François Verdier and Medusa by Caravaggio.
